Abstract: The rapid changes and developments in the world have brought the need to know more than one language. There are many reasons to learn a foreign language. The easiest and most perfect way to ensure intercultural transfer is through learning a second language. In order to understand and learn the cultural characteristics, religious beliefs and behavior patterns of a society, we must learn the language of that society.

The material is verbal, visual or written material. In education, the material is the tool used to do a job or explain a subject. The material to be used in education should be suitable for the course and serve the purpose. Materials should contain important summary information, not all relevant information.

The use of literary texts in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language is very important in the development of reading comprehension skills, in the introduction of Turkish culture and in teaching vocabulary.

There is a lack of materials in Turkish teaching, especially in terms of improving reading skills. Considering that the tales, which have an important place in our culture, will contribute positively to the deficiency in this field, studies have been made. It has been evaluated that tales, which are literary texts, can be used as a tool in the transfer of cultural elements to the target audience as well as improving listening, reading, comprehension and vocabulary development skills in teaching Turkish to foreigners.
