Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of the genesis of feudal relations in Azerbaijan. The in-depth study of several problems of the medieval history of Azerbaijan is one of the important challenges facing the history of Azerbaijan. One of the essential problems in national historiography is the establishment and development of feudal relations in Azerbaijan. To be honest, it should be mentioned that the problem of the genesis of feudalism in Azerbaijan during the early Middle Ages became an object of research only in Soviet historiography the study of this problem attracted the attention of neither Western historians, nor historians of Tsarist Russia historiography. Unfortunately, the western historians who touched on these or other issues of the early medieval period of Azerbaijan interpreted these problems from the perspective of İranian history, and did not pay attention to the socioeconomic issues of the mentioned period.
Analysis of the socioeconomic situation in the northern and southern regions of Azerbaijan shows that feudal relations were established here in the III-V AD. During the period in question, forms of feudal land ownership were formed, the main classes of feudalism were formed, a deep stratification process took place within these classes, and feudal exploitation existed.
