Abstract: This article analyzes the main methodologies used to measure income inequality
and examines their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of application. Survey-based methods, tax and
administrative data-based approaches, national accounts, decomposition methods, model-based
approaches, panel data analyses, and big data approaches are among these methods.
